INGREDIENT

CAFFEINE (ANHYDROUS)

1,3,7-trimethylxanthine · CAS 58-08-2

The most widely used stimulant ingredient in sports nutrition, and one of the most studied small molecules in the category.

WHAT IT IS

Caffeine is a small, naturally occurring alkaloid found in coffee, tea, cacao and guarana. The anhydrous form used in supplements is simply caffeine with the water removed, giving a consistent, weighable powder.

Chemically it is small and moderately lipophilic — meaning it dissolves reasonably well in both water and fat. Those two properties are the reason caffeine appears so often in discussions of skin-contact formats, while many larger supplement ingredients do not.

WHY FORMULAS USE IT

  • It is the reference stimulant of the sports nutrition category, so formulators have decades of dosing convention to work from.
  • It is stable, inexpensive and easy to dose accurately, which matters when a format holds a fixed quantity rather than a scoop.
  • It pairs conventionally with L-theanine, an amino acid commonly combined with caffeine in energy and focus formulas.

WHAT THE EVIDENCE COVERS

Oral caffeine is among the most extensively researched ingredients in exercise science. That body of research is built almost entirely on caffeine swallowed as a capsule, a drink or a gum — not on caffeine held against the skin.

Research findings from one delivery route do not automatically transfer to another. A dose that behaves predictably when swallowed can behave very differently when the skin is the barrier in between.

VYROTECH does not claim that oral caffeine research describes what its patches do.

CONTENT IS NOT ABSORPTION

Caffeine's small molecular size is often cited as making it a more plausible skin-contact candidate than bulkier ingredients. Plausible is not the same as proven.

The quantity of caffeine in a VYROTECH patch is the quantity contained in the active layer. It is not a statement about how much is released, how much crosses the skin, or how much reaches circulation.

Skin thickness, hydration, temperature, application site, hair, sweat and individual variation all influence what happens at the skin surface.

LIMITATIONS & CAUTIONS

  • Caffeine sensitivity varies enormously between individuals.
  • Not suitable late in the day for most people, and not suitable for anyone advised to avoid stimulants.
  • Never wear two caffeine-containing patches at the same time.
  • For adults 18+. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

IN THE VYROTECH RANGE

Doses shown are the quantity contained in each patch's active layer. They are not a delivered, absorbed or dietary intake figure.
