HOW TRANSDERMAL PATCHES WORK

A supplement patch is a layered adhesive strip carrying a defined active layer, worn on the skin instead of swallowed. Watch the 22-second explainer, then read the full guide underneath it — how a patch is built, how to wear one properly, and exactly what a patch label can and cannot honestly tell you.

WHAT A TRANSDERMAL PATCH ACTUALLY IS

"Transdermal" simply means across the skin. A transdermal patch is a thin, flexible strip built in layers: a protective backing on the outside, a defined active layer holding measured ingredients, and a skin-contact adhesive that keeps the whole thing flat against your body for a set number of hours.

The idea is not new — the patch format has been used for decades in other categories. What is newer is the wellness and performance use of the format: putting the ingredients people already take in powders and capsules into a wearable strip you apply and forget.

Everything a patch does starts from two simple facts: it holds a known quantity of ingredients, and it stays in contact with your skin for a known period of time. Every honest claim about a patch lives inside those two facts.

INSIDE A PATCH: THE FOUR LAYERS

1. The backing layer

The outer film that holds everything together and keeps the patch sealed against clothing, sweat and movement while you wear it.

2. The active layer

The measured ingredients — the milligram figures printed on every VYROTECH label. This describes what is contained in the patch, nothing more.

3. The adhesive

Skin-contact adhesive that holds the patch flat against clean, dry skin. Contact quality is why application site and skin prep matter.

4. Wear time

A patch is a timed format. VYROTECH patches are designed for up to eight hours, then removal — and caffeine formulas come off well before bed.

WHAT THE SKIN DOES

Skin is a barrier before it is anything else. Its outermost layer, the stratum corneum, exists to keep things out. That barrier is the single biggest reason patch formats are harder to design than a scoop of powder, and the reason nobody should promise that everything printed on a patch label ends up in your bloodstream.

How readily any single ingredient can interact with skin depends on its own properties — molecule size, how it behaves in water versus oil, and the concentration held in the layer. It also depends on you: skin thickness, hydration, temperature, body hair, sweat and the site you choose all vary between people and between days.

That variability is normal and worth saying out loud. It is why VYROTECH publishes exact milligram figures for what is in each patch, and publishes nothing that pretends to be a measured outcome inside your body.

CONTENT, RELEASE, PENETRATION, ABSORPTION

These four words get used interchangeably in patch marketing. They are four different things, and keeping them separate is the clearest way to read any patch label — ours included.

CONTENT

The amount of an ingredient held in the patch. This is what a label can state, and what VYROTECH states.

RELEASE

How much of that content leaves the active layer during wear. Different question, different number.

PENETRATION

Whether a released molecule crosses the skin barrier at all. Highly ingredient- and person-dependent.

ABSORPTION

What reaches your circulation. Measuring this properly requires clinical testing, so we make no absorption claims.

If a patch brand quotes you an absorption percentage or a bioavailability figure without published clinical data behind it, treat that number with real suspicion. Nothing on this page describes a treatment, a cure or a guaranteed result.

HOW TO APPLY AND WEAR ONE

  1. 1. Pick clean, dry skin. Wash and fully dry the area. Skip moisturiser, oils, sunscreen and deodorant on the spot you are about to use — anything on the skin sits between the adhesive and you.
  2. 2. Choose a low-hair, flat area. Inner forearm, shoulder, upper back or outer hip. Trim rather than shave if you need to; freshly shaved skin is more easily irritated.
  3. 3. Peel and press. Remove the liner without touching the active side, place the patch flat, then press firmly for about 30 seconds — especially the edges.
  4. 4. Wear it, then remove it. Up to eight hours, then peel it off slowly. One patch at a time.
  5. 5. Rotate your sites. Use a different spot each day so the same patch of skin is not covered repeatedly.

WHERE TO PLACE A PATCH

Good sites share three traits: relatively thin skin, minimal hair, and a flat surface that does not fold sharply when you move. Inner forearm and upper outer arm are the easy defaults. Shoulder and upper back work well under a training singlet. Outer hip stays put under a waistband.

Avoid broken, irritated, sunburnt or tattooed-and-still-healing skin, joints that crease constantly, and anywhere a strap will rub the edge loose. If you train, put the patch somewhere your kit does not sit directly on it.

HOW LONG A PATCH LASTS

VYROTECH patches are designed for a single wear of up to eight hours, then removal and disposal. They are not reusable — once the adhesive has been on skin, it does not reseal reliably.

Timing matters most for the caffeine formulas. DRIVE, IGNITE and SHRED all contain caffeine, so apply them earlier in the day and take them off well before bed. CREATINE+ and HYDRATE+ are caffeine-free, which makes their timing far more flexible.

Wear one patch at a time and do not stack two caffeine patches together. Count anything else caffeinated you drink that day as part of your total.

PATCHES VS POWDERS AND CAPSULES

The honest case for the patch format is practical, not magical. No shaker, no water, no measuring, nothing to swallow and nothing to carry — you apply it, you wear it, you get on with your day. For people who travel, train early, or simply never keep up with a multi-step stack, that convenience is the whole point.

The honest case against is equally simple: an oral dose is a known quantity going into a well-studied route, while a patch is a newer, more variable format with far less published data behind it. We are not going to tell you a patch replaces your nutrition, your training or a product your doctor recommended.

Treat a patch as a convenient format option — not as a superior delivery system with numbers nobody has published.

WHAT IS IN THE VYROTECH RANGE

Every VYROTECH patch publishes its full active layer in milligrams, with CAS numbers, on its product page. Five formats:

SAFETY, SENSITIVITY AND STATUS

Adhesives can irritate skin. If you have sensitive skin, wear one patch for a short period first and see how the site reacts. Remove the patch immediately if you get redness, itching or discomfort, and do not reapply to the same spot.

VYROTECH patches are prototype products and are not yet on retail shelves. They are not TGA-registered therapeutic goods and have not been evaluated as therapeutic goods. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Not for use by anyone under 18, or by people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have a medical condition, are sensitive to caffeine, or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor before use.
